One Thrifty Chick: DIY Utensil Holder & Matching Table Runner

Happy Holidays friends! Today I am going to share an old project that I created a couple years ago.

Each Holiday I like to create one of a kind gifts for all the teachers and staff at the kids' school. I wanted this gift to be personal and something they could enjoy for years to come. These would also make great Christmas or Hostess gifts.

All you need for this project is

I bought pre-made Table Runners, you could do this by using a longer piece of jute and cutting it to the desired size.

I started by measuring and cutting the Jute Chair Webbing to fit on both ends of the Table Runner.

Using a natural colored thread I stiched around all 4 sides of the jute webbing.

Once both ends of the runners were sewn, I set them aside and moved onto the utensil holders. I cut Jute Webbing to the length that I wanted, which was 12 inches. (you can play with the size if you want)

I folded the end up 4 inches (halfway) to create the utensil pocket.

Using the same natural thread I stitched around the two OUTSIDE edges. There is no need to sew along the bottom and be sure NOT to sew across the opening.

I made several of them so that each teacher had enough for their family.

Once they were sewn I grabbed my foam stamps and some matte black Fabric paint to create the monogram. I used the initial of each staff members last name.

I love how they all turned out! I let them dry for a few hours before putting them all together.

While those dried I moved onto customizing the gift bags.

I created a fun winter wishes quote on my Cricut and cut it out on Vinyl. You can also do this with freezer paper and can see my tutorial for that here.

I stuck the vinyl on the burlap bag and used the same foam brush and black fabric paint to stencil the design onto the bag.

I love how they turned out. Sweet, simple and to the point.

I laid out each set and made a simple tag for each bag using shipping tags. I also placed a set of plastic silverware into one holder (so they know what they are for) and placed them all in the gift bag.

I tied the set of utensil holders together with a little bit of bakers twine and that was it!

I really loved how simple yet how personal these gifts were.
