DIY MRE Meal Kits {Free Printable}

Today I am sharing a little detail from my sons ARMY party.  Today’s post is all about the food.

When you think of ARMY what food do you think of?  I know I think of those brown paper package’s dropped from the sky.  The real term for them is an MRE - Meal Ready to Eat.

All you do is add water and you have a delightful meal. I thought for the party I could order some online (link above), but I also thought the kids really might not like what’s inside.

So what does this crafty mom do?  Design my own!  Ok, well I found the design I wanted, and then handed it over to my trusty best friend to do her graphic design magic.  Yes, truly magic!!

She found the most perfect fonts, and created these in no time.

I had her design two, one that says Ham, and one that says Turkey.

I found the perfect brown food Box on Amazon.

Inside the Boxes I created perfect meal kits for growing 9 year old boys.

Build your own sandwiches.  Each kit had 2 slices of bread, one slice of cheese, and two slices of meat.  Each in their own baggies to prevent soggy bread.  As for condiments I purchased individual packets of mayonnaise (Kraft Real Mayo)and mustard (Heinz Mild Mustard) .

Each kit also got a squeeze applesauce, granola bar, bag of chips and a Wet Ones!  It was the perfect combo for the boot campers!

With the warm weather and these active boys, I made the call to serve ice cold water.  Now, not just plain old water, but ARMY water.   What’s ARMY water you ask??

ARMY water is nothing other than old fashioned tap water (we have excellent water here in Oregon) served in an authentic military Canteen !!

These were a HUGE hit!  I chose to use a sharpie to write names, rather than a label, due to the fact that I knew they would get pretty wet and gross during the course of the day.

Here is the best part of this post!  I have the printable MRE labels available for FREE!!   You can use them with the Avery labels ???? or full sheet labels and just cut them out.

Organizing Your Refrigerator

I'm Back again with yet another organizing and labeling post!  I am running out of rooms to attack, so I went straight to the kitchen.

 

My Fridge always drives me crazy, and I've seen some beautifully organized ones out in the blog sphere, and I knew I could make mine wonderful too.  I mean all the cool kids are doing it right?

Here's a little snapshot of the before.  Keep in mind, I need to go grocery shopping....  apparently running to the store everyday for groceries is working for now, but driving me batty!  I need structure here people!!

Knowing what I wanted to create inside this ice box required a few items to be purchased.  So, I ran straight to the wonderful Dollar Tree, and I suggest you do the same if you want this look!

I nabbed up $8 worth of organization magic.  They have soo many styles and colors, it's really hard to decide.  So I just grabbed two colors that I thought I would like.  You can order them online here too if you want!

Then I went home and got to work cleaning scrubbing out the fridge.  Let me tell you I am so thankful for this "spring cleaning" bug I've got.  That thing was a mess, yuck!

Once I had it all cleaned and sorted  I went through and made a list of what I had.  And you guessed it, I made LABELS!!

I printed and laminated them, and then used one of my 2" circle craft punches to cut them out!

It was like magic.  Truly I did not plan for these to be the size of this punch, but my stars aligned and gave me grace, or maybe they knew I was in a BIG rush to get these labeled before I had to pick the kids up from school?!?  who knows, but it worked.

I used my ATG adhesive to stick them on the baskets.  So far they are sticking just fine.  It is permanent, so it might last a few months in the elements.

Here she is all dressed up and organized.  Maybe I shall name my fridge.  She's just too pretty not to, right?  Ideas??

I also cleaned out the freezer drawer and did what I could to organize it as well.  I actually think it will help a TON!

No more digging in the morning to find those ice packs for lunchboxes.  Even though they are used daily, they always seem to go missing in the freezer abyss.

Organizing The Closet {printable labels}

I am getting down and dirty with this spring cleaning business!  The bedroom remodel really set the tone in my household.  I was so motivated to organize everything!

I started with my Hall Closet

Then moved onto my daughters closet.  She's got a big closet, but she has even more stuff than any 6 year old should know what to do with.  

It's always pretty organized, but the truth is that unless I am the one to put the laundry away it never gets put in the right place.  (sorry hub's)

So I am making it that much easier for everyone to know where things belong.

She is loving it, and look forward to putting her own laundry away.  She's also been showing this off to everyone!

I went with the turquoise damask print, because it is something that can grow with the room, and since it is in the closet, who cares if it goes with the rest of the room. 

I used the baskets that I had leftover from the hall closet org project to hold her overflow items.  Yes Socks for her are an "overflow" because she hates to wear them!!

And you betcha, I am sharing my labels with you all!!  I've been having fun creating them and cant wait to see everyone else put them to use!
